The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking the culmination of a rigorous examination process undertaken by over 1.94 million candidates nationwide.

Conducted across 118 towns and over 700 centres throughout the country, the UTME witnessed robust participation from aspiring tertiary education seekers, reflecting the significant interest and demand for higher education opportunities in Nigeria.

At a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, on Monday, the Registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede officially announced the release of the UTME results.

The examination, which spanned from Friday, April 19, to Monday, April 29, 2024, showcased the meticulous scrutiny exercised by the board to ensure the credibility and integrity of the examination outcomes.

Acknowledging the board’s commitment to upholding standards, Oloyede elucidated on the rationale behind the slight delay in the release of results.

The board diligently reviewed the results to mitigate any potential ambiguities or discrepancies, particularly concerning issues like impersonation, mixed biometrics, and other forms of malpractice, thus affirming the authenticity of the outcomes.

Out of the 1,904,189 candidates who participated in the examination, results for 1,842,464 candidates have been released.

However, the board revealed that the results of 64,624 candidates are currently under investigation, subject to meticulous scrutiny and procedural checks to ensure the sanctity of the examination process.

Providing insights into the examination demographics, Oloyede disclosed that out of the 1,989,668 candidates registered, 80,810 were absent during the examination period.

Notably, the board continues to extend its examination footprint beyond Nigerian borders, with nine foreign centres, including Abidjan, Addis Ababa, Buea, Cotonou, London, Jeddah, and Johannesburg, facilitating the UTME, further amplifying Nigeria’s academic outreach and global presence.

As the board navigates the aftermath of the 2024 UTME, it remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the integrity of the examination process and ensuring equitable access to quality tertiary education opportunities for all aspiring students.
