Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has raised concerns over the mounting debts incurred from unfinished projects initiated during the tenure of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking during the inauguration of the 10.98-km Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road, also known as Old Bori Road, Governor Fubara revealed that numerous contractors engaged during the previous administration have approached his government seeking settlement for outstanding payments.

Fubara, flanked by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, asserted that the completion of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road marked a milestone in fulfilling contractual obligations, emphasizing that the project, awarded to CCECC by his administration in August 2023, had been fully paid for, amounting to N6.7 billion.

Addressing the financial challenges inherited from the previous administration, Fubara affirmed a commitment to transparency by vowing to release a detailed ‘white paper’ outlining the funding history of ongoing projects.

He criticized the narrative of political friction with the federal government, asserting that his administration’s focus remained on delivering tangible progress for the people of Rivers State.

Fubara’s decision to invite Governor Alex Otti to the project inauguration was justified as a gesture of solidarity with like-minded leaders committed to genuine service and progress.

Governor Otti reciprocated the sentiment, commending Fubara’s leadership style and dedication to public service.

Drawing from his experience serving under past administrations, Governor Otti expressed confidence in Governor Fubara’s ability to navigate the political landscape of Rivers State while maintaining focus on developmental goals.

He lauded Governor Fubara’s resilience amidst political turbulence, affirming his unwavering dedication to advancing the welfare of Rivers State residents.
