In a significant diplomatic move, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz commenced his two-day visit to Nigeria on Sunday, aiming to bolster bilateral relations between Germany and Africa’s largest economy.

This diplomatic engagement featured a high-profile meeting between Chancellor Scholz and Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Upon his arrival in Nigeria, Chancellor Scholz was warmly received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, representing President Tinubu.

This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation across various sectors.

Chancellor Scholz’s agenda during his visit includes discussions with top government officials and key figures in Nigeria’s private sector. He is scheduled to meet President Tinubu and Omar Alieu Touray, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, in Abuja.

The visit also extends to Lagos, where Chancellor Scholz will inaugurate a Nigeria-German Business Conference organized by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce.

Additionally, Chancellor Scholz and his delegation will embark on a city tour of Lagos to gain firsthand insights into the challenges and opportunities presented by a dynamic megacity like Lagos.

This high-level interaction underlines the commitment of both nations to foster stronger economic and diplomatic ties and explore avenues for mutual growth and cooperation.

The outcome of these discussions is expected to contribute positively to the enduring partnership between Germany and Nigeria.
