The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has unveiled ambitious plans under the Bola Tinubu administration to shatter the longstanding 60-year jinx plaguing the power sector.

Addressing the Senate Committee on Power, led by Chairman Enyinnaya Abaribe during their recent visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, Adelabu expressed unwavering commitment to revolutionizing the power landscape.

“The strategic initiatives underway within the Ministry of Power signal a decisive shift towards resolving the enduring challenges in the sector. With perseverance and steadfastness, we are poised to overcome this crisis,” stated Adelabu.

Drawing parallels to road infrastructure projects, Adelabu emphasized the need for patience amid temporary inconveniences, stating that enduring short-term discomfort often yields long-term benefits.

He underscored the analogy by affirming that once the hurdles are surmounted, consumers will enjoy seamless and reliable power supply.

Identifying key hurdles including liquidity constraints, widespread metering deficiencies, rampant electricity theft, equipment vandalism, funding inadequacies, and grid instability, Adelabu acknowledged the multifaceted nature of the sector’s challenges.

However, he remained resolute in the administration’s determination to address these issues head-on.

As the Tinubu administration charts a course towards revitalizing Nigeria’s power sector, stakeholders are eagerly anticipating the fruition of these strategic initiatives, heralding a new era of sustainable energy provision and economic growth.
