In a bid to bolster agricultural mechanization and youth employment, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is joining forces with Nasarawa state government and Bobtrack Tractors, a division of Saint Bob Motors Limited, to inaugurate a tractor manufacturing and assembling plant in the north-central geo-political zone.

Utilizing the state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure at NASENI’s Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the venture aims to spearhead the production and assembly of tractors.

According to Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu this initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on enhancing food security and promoting mechanized farming and agro-business in Nigeria.

Expressing readiness for collaboration, Halilu affirmed NASENI’s commitment to expedite the necessary agreements, stating, “the Agency is willing to partner with you and sign the memorandum of understanding (MoU) so that in the next couple of weeks we will move into action.”

Governor Sule echoed support for NASENI’s vision of promoting locally-made goods and emphasized the government’s role in fostering a conducive environment for business growth.

The primary aim of the visit was to introduce Bob Track Tractors, specializing in tractor assembling and manufacturing with offices in Port Harcourt, to leverage NASENI’s existing facilities at AMEDI, Lafia for tractor assembly, obviating the need for acquiring new land.

Ibifiri A.C. Bob Manuel, CEO of Bob Track Tractors, expressed readiness to utilize the Nasarawa State facility to generate employment opportunities and drive mechanized agricultural initiatives. He emphasized their willingness to invest in Nasarawa state with the support of Governor Sule’s administration and NASENI.
