By Muhammad Agaie Abdulmalik

Born in the quaint village of Nami, Muhammad Nami’s life story is a testament to the power of determination and discipline.

Hailing from a modest background, he was the son of hardworking parents who earned their livelihood through farming.

His educational journey began at the humble JIPO LEA Primary School, where the foundations of his education were laid. As the saying goes, “Grace is God’s gift to you, but discipline is a gift you give to yourself.”

Muhammad Nami embodied this philosophy throughout his life. Through unwavering dedication and relentless effort, he rose to a position that few could have ever imagined: Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

Now, as Nami takes his final bow, his tenure as the FIRS Chairman draws to a close. However, he leaves behind a legacy that will be celebrated for generations to come. One of his most remarkable achievements was in the realm of revenue generation for Nigeria.

As the first Chairman of FIRS to surpass targets with unprecedented success, he shattered records by generating over 10 trillion naira in just ten months. Nigeria found itself sustained by these extraordinary figures during critical junctures when other revenue sources faltered.

Notably, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) came up short in remitting funds to the federation for several months. It was Muhammad Nami’s dedication and skill that ensured that the nation’s fiscal health remained robust even in challenging times.

For his hometown of Agaie, Muhammad Nami became a source of immense pride. He not only represented the Agaie Emirate admirably but also played a pivotal role in revitalizing taxation policies and elevating revenue to unprecedented heights.

The people of Agaie Emirate are rightfully proud of him, as he facilitated significant infrastructural developments. One of the most notable accomplishments in his hometown was the establishment of an ICT center by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

This center not only advanced technological literacy in Agaie but also opened up new opportunities for education and employment. Additionally, Nami’s efforts led to the establishment of the Police Secondary School in Nami and the construction of the Jummat Mosque in Nami village, which will have a positive impact on the community.

Nami’s commitment to infrastructure extended beyond his hometown, as he played a pivotal role in the reconstruction of the Lapai-Agaie-Bida federal road.

This major road project has not only improved transportation but has also spurred economic growth in the region. Furthermore, Muhammad Nami ensured that his fellow Agaielites had a share in the federal appointments within FIRS, bringing much-needed succor to the lives of many.

His dedication to his people has been commendable and has further cemented his legacy as a leader who cared deeply about the welfare and advancement of his community.

As we bid farewell to Muhammad Nami’s tenure as the Chairman of FIRS, we pray that Almighty Allah grants more opportunities to the people of Agaie at the national level. May they seize these opportunities to bring about impactful and tangible developmental projects in our beloved Emirate.

In the story of Muhammad Nami, we find a powerful narrative of a man who, through discipline, dedication, and hard work, transformed his humble beginnings into a legacy that will continue to shape the future of Nigeria and the Agaie Emirate.

His journey serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us that with perseverance, even the most remarkable dreams can be realized.
