Customs launches automated retiree verification system to curb cumbersome process

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has initiated a landmark program aimed at modernizing retiree verification procedures for retired senior officers.

Launched on April 22, 2024, the sensitization program marks the beginning of an electronic enrollment system tailored specifically for retired Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs), Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs), and Comptrollers.

In a significant departure from traditional methods, the program seeks to streamline the often cumbersome process of benefits application by leveraging cutting-edge automation technologies.

Addressing the retired officers at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja, Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, represented by Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs (DCG) Festus Okun, hailed the initiative as a pivotal step towards enhancing retirees’ welfare.

Emphasizing the service’s commitment to the well-being of its retirees, Okun reiterated the importance of the verification exercise in ensuring prompt and seamless disbursement of benefits.

Retired officers in attendance welcomed the initiative, highlighting its significance in simplifying access to benefits and affirming the NCS’s unwavering commitment to retirees’ welfare.
