Terrorists abduct over 60 people in Police guarded Convoy along Abuja-Kaduna road

Terrorists against struck on Abuja to Kaduna road, attacked a convoy of vehicles on Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Highway in Kaduna State and abducted a large number of persons in the convoy.

The convoy of over 20 vehicles, which was conveying traders from Birnin Gwari villages to Kaduna and Kano was said to be guarded by the Police.

The incident was confirmed by the Police spokesman, Muhammed Jalige, who promised to issue a statement on the development.

The incident was said to have happened around 11am, adding that some traders, who escaped the attack, confirmed it through phone calls. A community leader, Muhammadu Umaru, told journalists that four of his neighbours were among those abducted.

“The attack happened between Udawa and Buruku. Four of my neighbours were abducted. They are traders on their way to Kaduna, some to Kano. They were on a convoy of about 20 vehicles led by a police escort.

“On the convoy, we had about 70 of our traders from Udawa town alone and there were others from neighbouring towns. My neighbours were involved because we called their phones and one of the bandits answered the calls,” Umaru said.
