Three lawyers who allegedly filed petitions for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the election appeal tribunal in Port Harcourt have been detained by police.
According to reports, the attorneys are drafting petitions contesting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) results of the recently completed governorship race in Rivers State.
They were allegedly apprehended on Friday night at a Port Harcourt Hotel where they were staying. The reason for their arrest is still a mystery.
The attorneys are a part of Senior Advocate of Nigeria Tuduru Ede’s Chamber.
On Saturday afternoon, Darlington Nwauju, the State APC Publicity Secretary, confirmed the report of the arrest of the lawyers, according to The Punch report.
“Yes, that’s correct. They were detained overnight. Nwauju announced, “We are going to inform the media.
The state police command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko is yet to confirm or deny the arrest as of the time of filing this report.
