Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has pledged to lead with integrity and accountability, emphasizing that his role is to oversee the state’s affairs with a focus on service rather than control.

He made these remarks during a child dedication service for Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wordu’s family at the Royal House of Grace International Church in Rumueme, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara stated, “For us, by the special grace of God, He has placed us, today, to watch over the affairs, not to control, but watch over the affairs of this State. I am not controlling, but watching the affairs and I will watch through the fear of God.”

Fubara underscored the dangers of leaders becoming obsessed with power, which can lead to ruthlessness and the suppression of citizens’ rights. He vowed to govern with a sense of accountability and the fear of God, ensuring that his leadership would make Rivers people proud.

The governor also noted the importance of the church’s prayers for the strength and success of his administration. He noted that despite unprecedented challenges, divine support has enabled his government to implement impactful policies and programs for the state’s growth.

“No man is more powerful than God. And even the heart of that wicked and heartless man or whatever you want to call it, is even in the palm of God’s hand,” Fubara remarked, expressing confidence in divine guidance for the successful completion of his tenure.

Fubara’s visit to the church was also to support Wordu, a respected community member, and to participate in the dedication of their child. He emphasized the significance of starting a child’s life with a dedication to God and community support, promising continued prayers and assistance for the child’s upbringing.

The governor also announced a donation of N100 million to the church, reinforcing his commitment to upholding justice and righteousness in his governance.

In his remarks, Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Gwabin Musa praised Fubara’s dedication to the state and assured continued military efforts to maintain national security.

The General Overseer of the church, Zilly Aggrey, highlighted the unfathomable nature of God’s plans and acknowledged the successes of Fubara’s administration in its first year.

Governor Fubara’s leadership approach, rooted in faith and service, aims to foster freedom and pride among the people of Rivers State, setting a benchmark for responsible governance.
