President Tinubu nominates Tunji Bello as CEO/Vice Chair of FCCPC

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), pending Senate confirmation.

Bello brings a wealth of experience as a lawyer, administrator, and journalist. His distinguished career includes serving as the secretary to the Lagos State Government.

He holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, where he also earned his Law degree and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

Starting his professional journey in journalism, Bello joined Concord Newspapers in 1985, eventually rising to roles such as Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord.

His journalism prowess earned him the prestigious US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship. In 2001, he was appointed Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers.

In addition to his media career, Bello has significant governmental experience, having served as Commissioner for Environment in Lagos State under two administrations. His broad expertise in law, media, and administration is expected to be a valuable asset to the FCCPC upon Senate approval of his nomination.
