President Buhari writes Senate, seeks confirmation of six nominees for ICPC, RMAFC board

President Mohammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of six commissioners to fill vacant position at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).. 

The letter, which contained the name of the nominees, dated September 28, 2021, was read during the plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday. 

President Buhari listed the names of the nominees which include five for ICPC Board one for RMAFC Board in the letter and explained that the confirmation request was in accordance with the provision of enbaling Acts that established to two commissions.

The nominees for confirmation include: Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, Ekiti (South-West); Anne Otelafu Odey, Cross River (South-South); Goni Ali Gujba, Yobe (North-East); Louis Solomon Mandama, Adamawa (North-East); and Senator Anthony O. Agbo, Ebonyi (South-East).

In a second letter, President Buhari requested that the upper chamber confirm the appointment of Mohammed Sanni Baba as Federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission representing Bauchi State. 

The President said the request to confirm the nominee was made in accordance with the provision of Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). 

In the second letter also dated September 28, 2021, the President requested the Red chamber to confirm the appointment of Mohammed Sanni Baba as Federal Commissioner to represent Bauchi State on the board of RMAFC.

According to President Buhari, the request to confirm the nominee was made in line with the provision of Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
