President Mohammadu Buhari has postponed his medical trip to the United Kingdom, according to his spokesman, Femi Adesina.

In a terse statement of two paragraph, Adesina said a new date will be announced for the president medical check-up trip in due course.

No reason was offered for the postponement of the president medical trip to London by his media team.

“The medical follow-up visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Kingdom earlier scheduled for today, Friday, June 25, 2021, has been postponed.

“A new date will be announced in due course,” Adesina wrote in a statement posted on his social media platform on Friday.

The president had announced on Thursday through his spokesman that he would be embarking on medical follow-up trip to London this Friday.

However, public outcry has greeted the president’s aborted medical trip abroad in the wake of plans by Doctors to embark on strike.

“Many Nigerians died because of the failed health care system, as they cannot travel abroad for treatments. They cannot even afford a dollar for their daily meals due to the level of poverty. This is a woefully failed government oiling Nigerians’ heads with bad luck,” Akinola Anthony wrote in his Twitter handle.

Since he was inaugurated as president in 2015, Buhari has embarked on medical trips abroad over six times in six years.
