President Buhari holds security meeting aftermath increase in spate of abductions of school children

Against the backdrop of the rising spate of abductions of school children in some northern states, President Mohammadu Buhari on Tuesday presides over the meeting of the National Security Council, the first after the appointment of new service chiefs.

At the meeting are the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari; and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno.

Also in attendance are the Ministers of Defence, Interior, Police Affairs, and Foreign Affairs.

All the service chiefs, Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amoo; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo are in attendance.

Also in the meeting are the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; Director-General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf  Bichi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed  Abubakar.

The meeting is being held behind closed door.
