PDP Governors call for calm as crisis rips apart party’s NWC

The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum said it has schedule an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis within the main opposition party.

This was coming on the heel of the resignation of seven members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday due to disagreement with the leadership style of the National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

In a statement by the chairman of the Governor’s forum, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the governors elected under the party call on all members of the party to remain calm in the face of the latest development in the party.

The governors said they were already in consultations with the members of the PDP board of Trustees and other stakeholders to resolve all contending issues.

Tambuwal, who is also the governor of Sokoto State said PDP remain the only hope for the nation good governance and that its members must show good examples.

The PDP Governors’ Forum has received with regrets and sadness the recent rumblings in the PDP.

The Governors hereby call on all members of the party and indeed all stakeholders to remain calm in the face of the developments.

We plead with all aggrieved persons and those with the interest of the PDP at heart to keep their gun powder dry, as efforts are being made in consultation with members of the PDP Board of Trustees and other stakeholders to resolve all contending issues.

To this end, the PDP GOVERNORS’ FORUM has scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss the affairs of the Party and the way forward.

The PDP as the only remaining hope of the nation for good governance must show an example to Nigerians and also take advantage of the current disarray in the APC and its rudderless government.

Among those who tendered their letters of resignation are the Deputy National Financial Secretary, Deputy National Organising Secretary, Deputy National Legal Adviser, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Deputy Woman Leader, and Deputy National Auditor.

Reacting to the resignation, Kola Ologbondiyan, the publicity secretary of the PDP said the part has already activated its crisis resolution platform to address whatever the issues that led to the resignation of the party leaders.
