PDP G5 governors, George, and others meet in Lagos to fine tone strategy for 2023

Five governors elected on the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) platform, as well as some disgruntled party leaders, are currently meeting in Lagos to strategies for their next move ahead of the 2023 election.

The meeting could be related to the campaign to depose PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

According to a source close to the meeting, the meeting will give Wike and his allies the opportunity to review recent developments in the party before taking the next step.

Governor Wike and his allies are currently meeting behind closed doors and will brief the press later.

Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State are expected to attend.

Former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, and former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Bode George are also present.

Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke; PDP Deputy National Chairman, Taoferk Arapaja; Senator Nasif Suleiman, Nnena Ukeje, S. O. Onor, and Mao Ohabunwa are also present.

Remember that the PDP’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Wike have been at odds over Ayu’s removal and the need for the South to produce the party’s National Chairman.
