Ogun cancels Independence Day celebrations for a low-key observation

Following the Federal Government’s directive for a low-key Independence Day celebration this year, the Ogun State Government has taken the decision to cancel all previously arranged events for the anniversary on October 1st, 2023.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, noted that the decision aligns with current national sentiment and aims to reflect the mood of the nation. The state government kindly urges the citizens of the state to observe this day with solemnity, dedicating their time to prayer for the country.
