NOVA Bank, formerly known as NOVA Merchant Bank, has officially transitioned to a National Commercial Bank, opening its first commercial branch in Victoria Island, Lagos.

This milestone follows the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) approval of the bank’s final licence.

Beyond the Victoria Island branch, NOVA Bank announced plans to open additional branches in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano shortly.

Chairman and Founder of NOVA Bank, Phillips Oduoza, noted the bank’s unwavering commitment to customer-centric service and introduced the innovative “PHYGITAL” model, a hallmark of NOVA’s approach.

“We are thrilled to extend our tradition of excellence from our merchant banking roots to the retail market. Our PHYGITAL experience blends strategically located physical branches with advanced digital banking capabilities, offering our customers the best of both worlds.

“This ensures personalized, in-person service complemented by seamless, high-tech digital solutions,” Oduoza stated.

The Group Head of Retail and Digital Banking, Esther Adino highlighted NOVA Bank’s comprehensive suite of financial solutions. “We offer banking services tailored to the needs of individuals, SMEs, and large corporations.

“Our state-of-the-art mobile app allows customers to manage accounts, transfer funds, pay bills, and more. Our card solutions and efficient POS systems ensure seamless transactions for businesses, and our flexible account options cater to diverse financial needs.”

Since its inception in 2018, NOVA Bank has established a strong presence in Nigeria’s banking landscape.

Despite its young age, the bank has consistently exceeded market expectations, posting profits and solidifying its position as a leading financial institution both domestically and globally. The issuance of the national commercial banking license underscores CBN’s confidence in NOVA Bank’s robust financial health, good governance, and commitment to excellence.
