Nigeria Customs to spend N257 bln in 2021, as Senate projects N1.7 trln revenue from service

The Senate on Tuesday approved N257 billion as expenditure for the country’s Border Police, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for 2021.

The Senate also approved a projection of about N1.69 trillion as expected revenue collection by the agency for 2021.

However, out of this, N2billion was earmarked for welfare incentive for retiring staff and another N180million for fumigation.

A further breakdown of the spending estimate for the Customs for this year showed that the service will spend N137.93 billion on capital projects, while Personnel and Overhead Costs are to claim N99.72 billion and N19.53 billion respectively.
