NASENI launches skills acquisition program for Osun youths

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has inaugurated a three-day intensive training program focused on modern shoemaking and tailoring for the youth of Ife, Osun State.

This initiative, running from July 8 to July 10, 2024, is hosted at the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre in the Ife Federal Constituency.

Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NASENI, was represented by Engr. Olayode Adesola Olasupo, the Director of Manufacturing Services, Engineering Infrastructure Directorate, at the program’s opening.

Olasupo emphasized the program’s objective to provide participants with practical skills in contemporary tailoring and shoemaking techniques.

“NASENI, as an agency under the Federal Government and the Presidency, is dedicated to fostering a robust Science and Engineering infrastructure base to drive home-grown and self-sustained industrialization in Nigeria,” stated Halilu.

He highlighted that achieving this goal necessitates the development of critical skills among personnel, which is the impetus behind the establishment of NASENI Skill Acquisition Centres nationwide.

Halilu proudly announced that the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre in Ife Federal Constituency is the first of its kind in Osun State.

“This training program is a testament to the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to eradicate poverty, stimulate economic growth, and create job opportunities,” he added.

The program underscores NASENI’s commitment to equipping Nigerian youths with the skills needed for industrial and economic advancement.

By focusing on practical, industry-relevant training, NASENI aims to nurture a new generation of skilled professionals who can contribute to the nation’s industrialization and economic development.
