More troubles for Akeredolu as Ondo State SSG resigns
The crisis within the hierarchy of the Ondo State Government took a new turn on Monday when the Secretary to the government turned in his resignation from office.
Ifedayo Abegunde, in a three-paragraph letter addressed to the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, the SSG thank the governor for the opportunity to serve the government.
“I, Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo state, hereby tender my letter of resignation.
I want to thank Mr Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve the government and people of Ondo state. Again, my Family and I wish Mr Governor quick recovery,” Abegunde wrote in the letter.
It was not clear the reason the SSG resigned from the state government cabinet, however, sources said all has not been well with the political family of the government ahead of November governorship election.
Recently, the state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi resigned from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and joined the opposition party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following series of disagreement with the state governor.
Abegunde resignation may not be unconnected with his relationship with the state deputy governor and he is expected to join in in the PDP to pair for the forthcoming election.
