Local bourse opens April trading on negative trend as index down 0.26%

The local bourse opened the month of April on a negative note, bucking the trend in the last two trading days with all market indicators down.

All Share Index (ASI) fell by 0.26 per cent to close at 46,842.86 points compared with 46,965.48 points it closed at the end of the first quarter on Thursday.

The market capitalisation of equities listed on the NGX decreased to N25.253 trillion from N25.312 trillion as of the previous close.

The total volume traded closed with an exchange of 257.327 million units valued at N2.86 billion traded in 4,586 deals.

The market breadth was negative with 12 gainers as against 37 losers.

The NGX 30 Index decreased by 0.39 per cent to close at 1,784.11 points as against 1,791.07 points at the previous close.

Market turnover closed with a traded volume of 180.82 million units.

Fidelity and International Breweries were the key gainers, while Total and Okomu Oil were the key losers.

Fidelity Bank shares added 7.19 per cent to its value at the close of trading, International breweries added 3.14 per cent while the construction giant, Julius Berger close up with 1.17 per cent gain.

In the reverse, TotalEnergies closed south by 9.91 per cent, Okomu Oil fell 5.14 per cent, GTCO was down 4.02 per cent, FCMB Group traded downward by 2.94 per cent while United Capital fell 2.79 per cent.

Shares of Fidelity Bank close up at N3.43 per share against N3.20 it opened the market, International breweries was up N4.55 a share against N4.40, while Julius Berger shares traded close at N26 a share compared with N25.70 it opened the market.

On the reverse side, TotalEnergies fell to N238.5 a share against N264.90, Okomu Oil close downward at N4.97 per share, GTCO was down to N21.45 per share from N22.40 previously.

Also, FCMB shares closed at N3.40 compared with N3.30 previously while the United capital closed at N12.20 against the N12.55 it closed previously.
