Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu to collaborate with CIBN on youth empowerment

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a strategic partnership with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) to bolster youth capacity through the institute’s Human Development Capital Fund initiative.

This collaboration aims to equip the youth with the necessary skills and resources for economic empowerment.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, led by President and Chairman of the Council, Ken Opara, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and ensuring that every citizen benefits from good governance and the dividends of democracy.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized his dedication to supporting the youth, stating, “I am interested in anything that has to do with the youth and I will support them. Everything that we are doing is not just about providing opportunities; it is about ensuring that we can provide a future for the youthful population that we have in our country.

“We will give them a sense of hope and give them reasons to believe in our country. So, we will collaborate with CIBN in the area of the Human Development Capital Fund to ensure that we help and support the youths.”

The Governor further highlighted the comprehensive THEMES+ agenda, which addresses gender equality, extensive youth engagement, and ensuring no one is left behind. His administration aims to elevate the standard of governance and leave a lasting legacy that improves the quality of life for all citizens.

On his part, Opara congratulated Governor Sanwo-Olu on his re-election and commended his remarkable achievements as a distinguished banker. He also praised the Governor for creating a conducive and secure environment for the banking industry to thrive.

Opara reiterated the CIBN’s commitment to collaborating with the Lagos State Government and urged them to leverage the expertise of professionals in the banking industry for various projects and initiatives.

He expressed, “We can deepen the relationship between the Lagos State Government and the Institute as well as the banking and finance industry towards the growth and development of the State and our nation, Nigeria, especially working with Governor to deliver the ‘Greater Lagos Rising’ Agenda.”

Recognizing the importance of capacity building, Opara highlighted the Human Development Capital Fund established by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, which aims to develop the skills and capabilities of the youth. He emphasized the significance of this initiative for Governor Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Government, as they are deeply committed to youth development.

Through this strategic partnership, the Lagos State Government and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria aspire to empower the youth and foster economic growth, while further cementing their collaboration for the betterment of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
