Investors on Nigeria’s equity market records N40 bln gains

Activities on the Nigerian Exchange Limited maintained positive trend on Friday with the market capitalisation increasing by N40 billion on sustained positive sentiment. 

Specifically, the market capitalisation which opened at N25.526 trillion rose by N40 billion to close at N25.566 trillion. 

In the same vein, the All-Share Index appreciated by 73.50 points to 47,437.48 from 47,363.98 on Thursday.

Niger Insurance led the gainers’ table in percentage terms, increasing by 10.0 per cent to close at 22k per share.

RT Briscoe followed with 8.96 per cent to close at 73k, while UPDC gained 7.61 per cent to close at 99k per share.

UACN increased by 5.96 per cent to close at N10.65, while Cornerstone Insurance was up by 5.71 per cent to close at 74k per share.

Conversely, Royal Exchange topped the losers’ chart in percentage terms dropping by 9.70 per cent to close at N1.21 per share.

Ellah Lakes trailed with 9.57 per cent to close at N3.12, while was Pharm Deko was down by 8.0 per cent to close at N1.84 per share.

Linkage Assurance dropped by 7.14 per cent to close at 52k, while Unilever shed 5.71 per cent to close at N13.20.

FCMB Group drove the activity chart, exchanging 932.89 million shares valued at N349.14 million.

Zenith Bank followed with an account of 29.95 million shares worth N80.56 million, while Access Bank traded 22.517 million shares valued at N227.82 million.

Fidelity Bank exchanged 19.31 million shares valued at N55.16 million, while United Capital sold 16.88 million shares valued at N208.52 million.

In all, traded 1.15 billion shares worth N7.03 billion in 3,928 deals against 261.56 million valued at N4.48 billion in 4,672 deals on Thursday.
