Gunmen release Kagara kidnapped Secondary school students, teachers, travelers

The 27 students and 15 staff of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State kidnapped last week by gunmen have been released on Sunday evening and are on their way to the government house in Minna.

The abductees who were taken into the bush by the bandits that kidnapped them were said to be on their way to Minna from around the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State.

The Niger State Governor, Sani Bello and other top officials of were at the Government House Minna in anticipation of the arrival of the students and their teachers.

The gunmen, donning military uniform, had last week invaded Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, and whisked away 27 pupils and 15 staff members after killing a Senior Secondary School 3 student.

The incident has created nationwide agitation and worries over the safety of the kidnapped pupils and school staff members, who were whisked away into the bush by the bandits.

Also, 40 passengers traveling from Kontagora to Minna were also abducted by suspected gunmen on February 14. However, the passengers had regained freedom.
