Death toll from Collapsed Ikoyi high rise hit 43, 15 survivors, 49 still missing ~Lagos Information Comm

Death toll from the debris of the collapsed 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos has hit  43 as of Sunday evening, according to Lagos commissioner of Information and strategy, Gbenga Omotosho.

In a statement on Sunday, Omotosho said one more body was recovered from the site, bringing the total dead body recovered from the site to 43 so far.

“One more body has been recovered from the site of the collapsed 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos.

“The body, which was recovered on Saturday, has brought the number of bodies retrieved from the rubble to 43.

 “There are 15 survivors and 49 persons have reported that their loved ones are missing. 

“At the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba, the identification of bodies continues,” the commissioner said in the statement. 

He said the state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, once again, commiserates with the families of those who died in the incident. 

The skyscraper owned by Fourscore Heights Limited collapsed on Monday, trapping over 50 persons, including the firm’s Managing Director, Femi Osibona, his friend, Wale Bob-Oseni, and personal assistant, Oyinye Enekwe.
