CIBN to confer fellowship on Okonjo-Iweala, more than 200 others

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) will on Saturday, October 30, 2021 conferred on over 250 qualified and experienced members of the institute the Fellowship cadre of the Institute in Lagos.

The event is slated for the balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos by 11 am.

Among those to be confer with the fellowship of the institute are; the Director General, World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Obiora; the MD/CEO, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Hassan Bello; the Former Director, Financial Policy & Regulation Department, CBN, Kevin Amugo; the Former Director, Special Insured Institutions, NDIC, Joshua Etopidiok; the MD/CEO, Keystone Bank Limited, Olaniran Olayinka; the MD/CEO, Globus Bank, Elias Igbinakenzua; the MD/CEO, Rand Merchant Bank, Nig Ltd, Michael Larbie; the MD/CEO, SunTrust Bank Nigeria Limited, Halima Buba; the MD/CEO, Coronation Merchant Bank, Banjo Adegbohungbe; the MD/CEO, Nova Merchant Bank; Nath Ude; the MD/CEO, Aso Savings & Loans Plc, Risikatu Ahmed, HCIB; the Founder and Chairman, Proshare Nigeria Limited, Femi Awoyemi; the MD/CEO, SystemSpecs Nigeria Limited, John Obaro and the Vice Chancellor, Adeleke University, Ede Osun State, Solomon Ajayi Adebola.

Out of the 258 awardees to be honored, nineteen (14) would be conferred Honorary Fellows; 93 Associates will become Fellows and 51 will be admitted as Honorary Senior Members of the Institute.

According to a statement by the Head of Corporate Communication & External Relation of the Institute, Nelson Olagundoye, the honour is in recognition of the awardees’ meritorious services, commitment to professional responsibilities and valuable contributions to the industry in particular and the economy in general.

Taiwo Oyedele, Africa Tax and Legal Services Leader PWC Nigeria will deliver the keynote address titled: “Nigeria’s Rising Debt Profile: Issues and Implications for Sustainable Economic Development”.

In view of the existing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s edition of the Investiture, will be executed using the hybrid of virtual and physical platforms, with strict adherence to the preventive protocols against the spread of the pandemic.

The event which will have Shamsudeen Usman,Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, SUSMAN & Associates Ltd and Former Minister of Finance as well as National Planning as the Special Guest of Honour is expected to attract stakeholders in the industry including captains of industry, top government and diplomatic officials, Financial Decision Makers, Top Management Staff of banks, Academics, Professional Institutions, Senior Members and including well- wishers.

The President/Chairman of Council of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Bayo Olugbemi,  will be the Chairman of the occasion while Kenneth Opara,  1st Vice President will be the Chief Host supported by Seye Awojobi, Registrar/CE.
