CHURCH BUSINESS: You are a creation of value

By Oludare Mayowa

Sometimes ago, while sharing the word with a group of people in the church, I demonstrated how our life’s value cannot be destroyed by whatever circumstance of life we are faced with.

When you take a currency note and squeeze it or roughen it or tear it, and late use a cellophane tape to join it and restore it to shape, would the bank says the currency has been devalued? The value of the currency still remains the same before it went through such a tough time or hardship.

We are defined by who we are within and not what our physical appearance shows. It takes water to float a ship, but it also take the same water to sink the ship.

Same way, it takes the storm of life to keep you going, yet the same storm can bring destruction to you. How do I mean; when the storm arose, the captain of the ship must do everything possible to prevent the water from getting inside the ship, or else the ship will founder.

Similarly, we grow through pains and affliction in life, but we must not allow such affliction to penetrate inside of us otherwise, our faith will be shaking and life will founder.

“I have seen slaves on horseback, while princes go on foot like slaves,” Ecc 10:7. One of the mysteries of life is that strange things do happen and many would be wondering why is it so.

Ordinarily by human understanding, slaves are supposed to walk on foot, while their masters the princes ride on horseback – that is what is called royalty. However, there are many slaves that have usurped the place of their masters simply because the masters are living in ignorance of their worth.

Once you allow your circumstance to define you, then you have surrendered your birthright to the devil. He always wants to put you down, crush your faith, and ensure that you are defeated.

Never allow what you are going through in the now defines who you are or call yourself; be prepared to let His glory shine upon you always irrespective of your pain and circumstances.

Always remember that you are a product of value, created by God in his very image to show forth his glory. The fact that you are going through trial and difficult situations does not change a thing about who you are.

You are not poor because you don’t have money, you can only be poor if you allow your situation to tell you so and you believing it.

Do Not Worry

“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?”

This is how God sees you and this is how you should see yourself at all times irrespective of what you are passing through.

1. Understand the fact that whatever affliction you are going through is not meant to break you. ‘All things work together for the good of those who love God.’

2. Consider your past testimonies, God’s goodness in the time past, and how he saw you through past affliction; be sure that He will see you through just the same way he did in the time past.

3. Always be on the positive side of life, never look down on yourself no matter what the world says about you. It is who you say you are that matters most and not what others say about you.

4. Focus on the goal and not on the distractions around. Trials, suffering, and even pain could be a sought of distraction to take your eyes off the goal, but your determination to succeed will see you through.

5. Let the word of God be your comfort always. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jer 29:11.

Be confident in his leadership, he has a plan well laid down for you, so stop querying his judgment or decision about you.

And lastly, has faith in his faithfulness because He that promised is faithful to fulfill that which he has promised. No matter the circumstances and situation, remain focus on His word for your life because He is capable to see you through.

Just like Joseph in the house of Potiphar as a slave, he never removed his eyes or lower his expectations from his dream because he trusted in the Lord to give him the future and hope.
