President Mohammadu Buhari on Monday met with his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, the acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba and later the newly inaugurated Niger Republic President Mohamed Bazoum in what seem to be a very busy day for him.

President Buhari returned to the country on Thursday from his 16-day medical trip to the United Kingdom and Monday seems to be his first official outing at the villa.

His first major assignment on Monday was his meeting with Osinbajo, who updated him on state matters and events that happened in the country while the president was away.

Buhari had traveled to London on March 31, for medical check-up and returned to the country last Thursday.

Though the President did not transmit power officially to his vice during his medical tour, nonetheless, Osinbajo presided over the weekly cabinet meeting twice before his boss return back to the country.

It was also the Vice President that performed the official decoration of the acting Inspector General of Police, Baba on April 7 during his boss’s absence.

The President meeting with the  IGP was their first official interaction after Baba was appointed the acting IGP.

The president also met with the President of the Niger Republic at the State House, the first official visit of the neighbouring country’s head of state to Nigeria.

Though the outcome of the President meeting with both Osinbajo and the acting IGP was not known, Buhari, however, told the visiting Niger Republic president that; “We will do all it takes to secure our two countries.”

Buhari also told his visitor that “We will stabilize our region for the benefit of the two countries.”

The President congratulated Bazoum on winning the recent presidential election, and his successful inauguration into office.

Many Nigerians are expecting President Buhari to double up his efforts to restore security across the country and also work harder together with his team to ease economic pressure, currently strangulating the citizens as he settles for work after his medical trip.
