Bola Tinubu scores 1,271 votes to emerge APC presidential candidate

Former Lagos State Governor and on Wednesday emerged the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), having scored a total of 1,271 to beat both immediate past transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

His closest rival, Amaechi scored 316 votes while Vice President Osinbajo 235 votes to come distant third position in the race to clinch the presidential ticket of the ruling party.

Tinubu contested against thirteen other aspirants – Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Mr Ahmed Rufai, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Jack Rich, Governor Ben Ayade, Governor David Umahi, Senator Ahmed Yarima, Ahmed Lawan, Osinbajo, Amaechi, Governor Yahaya Bello and Ogbonnaya Onu.

Nine aspirants had earlier stepped down, eight of whom asked their supporters to vote for Tinubu, while one asked his supporters to vote for Osinbajo.
