In a move that has stirred political circles, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

This visit, which took place on Saturday, was accompanied by a video showing former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal as part of Atiku’s entourage.

The visit to Buhari’s residence follows closely on the heels of Atiku’s earlier visits to former military heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna, Niger State.

Atiku announced these visits on his X platform, stating, “Today, I paid Sallah homage to former Heads of State Ibrahim Babangida and Abdusalami at their residences in Minna, Niger State.”

These visits have fueled speculations about Atiku’s political ambitions, with many suggesting that he is laying the groundwork for a possible run in the 2027 presidential election.

In May, Atiku had declared his intention to continue contesting for the presidency as long as he remains healthy, hinting at his undeterred political aspirations.

Atiku’s recent moves are also seen in light of his efforts to build a broader political coalition, including discussions with Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and other political entities.

Despite his previous unsuccessful attempts at the presidency, Atiku appears steadfast in his pursuit, signaling ongoing strategic planning for future elections.
