The African Business Coalition for Health (ABCHealth) has been appointed as the new Secretariat for the Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA), marking a significant transition towards African-led initiatives in healthcare.

Founder and Chairman of ABCHealth, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, announced on Wednesday that the move represents an opportunity for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to improve health outcomes across the continent.

Aig-Imoukhuede highlighted Africa’s disproportionate disease burden as a key reason for increased private sector engagement in health.

He emphasized the importance of this transition in fostering sustainable partnerships to address the region’s healthcare challenges.

This development aligns with GBCHealth’s broader strategy of shifting leadership to African organizations.

The CEO of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and ABCHealth Board Director, Zouera Youssoufou expressed optimism, stating that the full leadership of CAMA by Africans is expected to enhance its impact in combating malaria across Africa.

ABCHealth CEO, Mories Atoki, reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to scaling CAMA’s efforts in eliminating malaria, with the continued support of its Leadership Council, which includes Access Bank, Chevron, Aliko Dangote Foundation, and ExxonMobil.

This transition is seen as a milestone in ABCHealth’s journey to mobilize private sector resources and cultivate partnerships for improved health systems across Africa.
