Nigeria plans to make provision for Covid-19 vaccines in 2021 budget ~Ahmed

Nigeria is expecting to receive donations of Covid-19 vaccine that will cover 20 percent of its population while planing to make provision in the 2021 budget for the purchase of additional vaccines.

Finance and Budget Minister, Zainab Ahmed said both her ministry and the ministry of health are working to arrive at a cost for vaccine purchase and should finalize an amount within the next two weeks.

Ahmed said the government is working to determine what type and quantity of COVID-19 vaccines to procure and will make financial provision for vaccines in its 2021 budget.

According to the Director General of the Budget Office Ben Akabueze Nigeria said Nigeria will require an additional 50 percent of its vaccine requirement to achieve herd immunity.

Akabueze told a virtual conference during the 2021 budget presentation that the donations will include all types of vaccines.
